Before we get too far some ink must be dedicated to cautioning everyone against excessive expectations. We tried to address and be serious about this last year, but it is important to remember we are dealing with children here, and putting undue pressure on them could be unwise. Right.
There is not a person attached to this team, and certainly no one who witnessed the Memorial Day Massacre, who isn't expecting to come out of Fallbrook with two wins tonight. On the schedule for the evening are the Escondido all stars and our friends from Carlsbad. We haven't played Escondido in any capacity, though if they were anything like the La Costa boys, we'd have heard about it. We last played Carlsbad at the big LCM Motor Home BBQ, where they vowed never to play us again. Troy Glaus would not have helped the Crushers that day.
No one is expecting the Bluerays to win every tournament (yes, we are). No one is expecting them to repeat last year's unbelievable run (yes..yes we are). The kids will play tonight, they will play hard and the result of the games will mean far less to them than the cupcakes and pickle match. The first profound prediction of the year, though, is this: The Bluerays end the day 2-0, and there won't be a fan among us who won't be thinking World Series.
Happy Birthday Luke.
LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!!!
