2012 NFL Vodka Challenge, Divisional playoff weekend, Tebow's still standing

Desperate times call for despreare measures, and Mitch's NFL reputation is being measured for a casket. Losing our two conflicting NFL Wild Card games has Mitch in a six foot hole, and in need of a miracle.


Two games down in the Vodka Challenge playoffs, with six remaining, Mitch, of the Shadow Beverage Group, has elected to go against all of the Vodka Examiner's picks. A bold (insane) strategy indeed, but what is truly incredible is Mitch's ex post facto pick justification (see below, you'll love this).

Denver Broncos v New England Patriots -13.5
Mitch says Tim Tebow is like a 'possum clinging to a bowing tree branch. It is just a matter of time before the limb breaks, or he simply falls, and every time you look out in the yard you can't believe he's still up there. No matter how many playoff games the Broncos win, we are still going to doubt Tebow. What faith one might have in the desperate, shaggy marsupial is dashed when the wind picks up, and Bill Belichick starts chopping the tree down.

2012 college football Vodka Challenge, BCS Championship, LSU vs. Alabama

The Vodka Challenge is an NFL pool between Mitch, of the Shadow Beverage Group, creators of Mystt Vodka, and the Vodka Examiner. The NFL has reached the post season, and with a mere four games this weekend, we are jonesing for more action.

Enter the Vodka Challenge BCS Championship, LSU vs. Alabama edition. The BCS National Championship will be decided tonight, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. As a special feature, we include this recipe for a New Orleans Hurricane, featuring Mystt Vodka:

Hurricane recipe from "Classics Take to the Punch Bowl" on The Intoxicologist website. Vodka has been substituted for Rum, for reasons which may occur to you -

2 ounce Mystt Vodka
1/2 ounce Galliano
3/4 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
2 ounce Passion Fruit Nectar or Syrup
2 ounce Fresh Orange Juice
2 ounce Pineapple Juice
1 ounce Simple Syrup
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Orange, Lime, Pineapple Chunk Garnish

Combine liquids in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend. Strain into hurricane glass over fresh ice. Garnish with skewered fruit.

LSU Tigers v Alabama Crimson Tide o/u 41.5
LSU and 'Bama played in November. The Tigers won 9-6 in overtime. That's 15 points. While both of these teams commonly score in the 40's, against one another, they failed to reach the endzone. To reach 41.5 points will require fourteen field goals, or a few touchdowns. There's no gaurantee of either.
Both pick: Under 41.5
